Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Data Engineering and AI/ML Consultant to support the development and implementation of data processing solutions and advanced analytics capabilities. The role combines hands-on Python development, data engineering and knowledge of machine learning and Large Language Models (LLMs). The consultant will be responsible for developing reliable, maintainable and scalable data solutions, processing data from internal and external sources, and contributing to the implementation of automated workflows and AI/ML applications. The ideal candidate is technically strong, autonomous and delivery-oriented, with experience working in an existing technical environment and delivering production-ready solutions. 2. Key Responsibilities • Develop and maintain data ingestion and transformation pipelines. • Process, clean, structure and transform data from internal and external sources. • Develop Python-based solutions for data processing and analytics. • Apply machine learning and LLM-based techniques to relevant data use cases. • Implement and maintain automated data workflows and scheduled executions. • Ensure code quality, version control, documentation and maintainability. • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions. • Support the integration of processed data into downstream analytics and BI applications. • Troubleshoot data processing issues and optimise performance and reliability. • Ensure solutions are documented and maintainable over time. 3. Required Technical Skills Programming and Data Processing • Python programming. • Experience with Pandas and/or PySpark. • Data manipulation, transformation and validation. • Experience working with CSV, Excel and Delta tables. Data Engineering • Experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT pipelines. • Understanding of data ingestion, transformation and storage. • Experience with Apache Airflow or equivalent workflow orchestration tools. • Familiarity with Amazon S3 or equivalent object storage solutions. AI and Machine Learning • Good understanding of machine learning concepts and Large Language Models (LLMs). • Practical experience applying AI/ML techniques to data-related problems. • Ability to evaluate and implement appropriate technical approaches based on business requirements. Development Environment and Tools • GitHub and Git-based version control. • JupyterLab, Code Server or equivalent development environments. • Jira or equivalent tools for task and project management. Candidates are not expected to be experts in every tool listed. However, strong Python and data engineering skills are essential, together with the ability to learn and adapt to the existing technology stack. 4. Preferred Qualifications The following skills and experience are considered advantageous: • Experience delivering and maintaining production-ready data solutions. • Experience with machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, PyTorch or TensorFlow. • Experience classifying, enriching or processing data from external sources. • Knowledge of Qlik or other BI platforms. • Understanding of product structures, bills of materials (BOMs) and component engineering. • Experience working with complex product data and technical product hierarchies. • Experience deploying, monitoring and maintaining automated data workflows in a production environment. 5. Expected Deliverables The consultant is expected to contribute to the following outcomes: • Reliable and maintainable data ingestion and transformation pipelines. • Improved data quality, availability and usability. • Automated and documented data workflows. • Implementation of relevant AI/ML capabilities to support business needs. • Integration of processed data into downstream analytics and BI solutions. • Production-ready solutions with appropriate testing, documentation and maintenance practices. • Effective knowledge sharing to ensure long-term continuity. Specific deliverables and acceptance criteria will be agreed upon at the start of the assignment. 7. Practical understanding of machine learning and LLM applications. 5. Experience delivering reliable, production-ready solutions. 6. Strong problem-solving skills and a delivery-oriented mindset.
